About Treon Pret
“My current work explores the intersections between the different styles and concepts of my paintings; what unites them and what pulls them apart. Each new painting is a piece to the puzzle of a larger picture. The creation of a visual document that fluctuates between the representation of emotion, memory, hope, fear, history and ultimately my current reality.

Through a process of abstraction, I paint either the environment around me or the memory in me, by stripping it down to just shape and color and from there work with the emotions that connect me to the subject. This is often a multi-layered process of action-reaction, putting on – scraping off, creating chaos – covering it up, ultimately building a history to represent the complexities of everything involved.” – Raymond Morrow, 2004
